Electrical/Electronic Technician

This position is located at the Sunbury Plant in Sunbury, PA and reports to the Facilities Operations Manager. Core work hours are 7:00am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. There may be occasional call-in work required outside of those hours based on the need at the plant. This position pays overtime. We offer competitive pay and benefits. We are looking for someone who can work independently and learn quickly. An electrician license or certification is desired but not required. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong electrical aptitude and some experience to receive training and grow their career. There is opportunity for growth within a small department. NFPA70E Arc Flash Protection, Safety Training and are provided.

Some of the responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following: projects such as electrical wiring, working with 3 phase, 480 volt electrical from the transformer station out to the panel boxes, working on relays within panels, single phase 120 volt to 240 volt electrical wiring for receptacles, lighting retrofits (switching to LED), working on looms and machine electronics, AC/DC controls, electric motors, motor controls, power wiring, lighting, networking, and communications equipment and maintaining single and three-phase wiring, conduit runs, busway distribution and substations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Handle all loom breakdowns of electrical/electronic nature.
  • Run all power and light wiring throughout the complex.
  • Responsible for all electrical building maintenance.
  • Repair and replace all lighting in complex
  • Service and replace various motors.
  • Install and repair all motor controls.
  • Install and maintain all power distribution busways.
  • Clean and check all substations.
  • Work from electrical/electronic blueprints.
  • Work with contractors and understand high-voltage lines.
  • Run and understand computer wiring.
  • Understand computer systems controlling looms
  • Run phone, communications wiring, and network wiring.
  • Analyze mechanical and electrical machinery operation.
  • Understand programmable controllers
  • Service and inspect elevators
  • Maintain the safe operation of all electrical equipment.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Weekly check, service and run emergency lighting.
  • Regular scheduled light tube replacement
  • Inventory and order electrical components
  • Work with service technicians of various machinery
  • Understand and use various testing equipment
  • Service all types of small power equipment such as drills and appliances
  • Working with other departments on non-electrical jobs
  • Work in a safe manner
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications or Job Knowledge Skills Required:

  • Must possess a current driver s license
  • Know standard wiring practices for safe power distribution
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E Arc Flash Protection
  • Knowledge of direct and alternating currents
  • Knowledge of single and three-phase wiring
  • Must understand and work from blueprints.
  • Must have some knowledge of electronics
  • Person is able to bend and run conduct
  • Person is able to size wire correctly
  • Must understand motors and motor control
  • Understand communications wiring
  • Person must have good mechanical skills
  • Person must be knowledgeable on computers
  • Person will continue education with ongoing classes
  • Should have ability to take ideas and make workable solutions
  • Able to work with other departments daily
  • Know and practice all safety rules
  • Respond to emergencies in a rational, calm knowledgeable manner
  • Required to have a fine working relationship with supervisor and co-workers
  • Required to have a positive attitude, be dependable, and take pride in the job


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
