Sustainability Specialist

The Sustainability Specialist is responsible for the strategic development of the Company's overall sustainability goals and to develop metrics to measure, monitor, manage and validate the company's progress to reduce its carbon footprint through conservation of energy, natural & human resources, waste management programs and the establishment of environmentally responsible policies and procedures.
Establish and track specific corporate sustainability goals and metrics, to include stores, store support center,
distribution center, manufacturing plants, and fleet facilities. The goals must be both economically and environmentally
sustainable. The metrics employed must be able to clearly quantify the reduction in carbon footprint in order to verify
the goals are being met.
Develop systems for making sustainable bottom line decisions for the overall business.
Assemble and manage cross-functional department teams to develop and apply sustainability principles to accomplish corporate goals. Track teams and measure each department's success.
Develop and present training programs to support sustainability initiatives.
Audit each area of the company to assess level of compliance in pursuit of goals. Audits will require a significant portion of time for on-site observation and instruction.
Compile metric data and prepare yearly summaries of goals and achievements.
Promote industry-leading best practices in sustainability for product specification, production, manufacturing, sourcing and distribution; advise teams on how to find energy conservation and environmental benefits.
Possess business acumen in order to manage budgets and savings of sustainability projects, and recommend utilization of funds.
Assist key stakeholders in developing internal and external sustainability communications.
Research trends and developments in sustainability; attend applicable conferences; develop trade contacts.
Create regular educational opportunities on trends and innovations in the sustainability field for Company associates.
Manage philanthropic and non-governmental organization partners to integrate them into the business and develop pro-active programs.
Act as a change agent within the company to introduce positive disruption that will lead to an enterprise wide understanding of the company's commitment to sustainability and its progress on that journey.
Work with Weis Public Relations to maintain a continued conversation through various media outlets to communicate to our customers & associates our progress in the area of sustainability.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
